Training Program

The Oregon SBDC Network’s Capital Access Team now offers a self-paced online training program to support small business owners with curriculum to cultivate expertise on accessing capital and deepening financial literacy. The curriculum originates from Capital Access Team trainings since 2011 and is now available online to support Oregon’s rural and urban small business owners conveniently from computer desktop.

The core content supports development of small business “financing literacy” through training on the Five C’s of Credit along with learning about different drivers that inform finance strategy development.

Central to this program is a thorough overview of Oregon’s Capital Landscape both the “traditional” as well as “alternative” sources of capital. By exploring these foundational aspects for understanding Oregon’s access to capital, business owners can begin to develop the expertise they need to customize a finance strategy that fits their project.

In addition to the foundational content, the CAT online training program contains content on a wide variety of other topics relating to business funding including:

  1. Traditional Capital Landscapes
  2. Alternative Capital Landscapes
  3. Finance Strategy Drivers and Development
  4. Getting A Business Loan
  5. Meaningful Projections
  6. Startup Financial Projections
  7. Business Line of Credit Best Practices
  8. Business Planning
  9. Estimating Financing Needs
The CAT Training Program has been made possible by The Ford Family Foundation and its commitment to support small business in rural Oregon.
